Dancing with the Stars "Samba vs Salsa".
Ben Barrington's Samba was labelled as "more of a Salsa" by there judges last Sunday night. This totally confused my non-dancing husband, as they didn't give a reason. Read on!
What's the difference?
International Samba is traditionally a party dance, that travels around the floor, with plenty of bounce through the body and legs. Despite the fact that professional dancers make it look easy, it is in fact, a very technical dance. Salsa is popular in the social scene, as it travels less, so can be danced in smaller spaces. Salsa can often be a lot faster than Samba, with lifts and throws included.
Below is an example of a show dance Samba.
